Notifications not working.

I'm not getting any notifications from IMDB android app for a long time.

I'm using the last update.

Please make sure to follow the steps from our help pages to enable IMDb, email notifications:

- IMDb App Notifications

- Manage Your Email Subscriptions and Watchlist Notifications

If you have followed each of the steps, but still you are not receiving notifications from IMDb, please reply and confirm so our tech team can check further.

Please respond the following questions so our tech team can investigate and resolve this as soon as possible.

  1. Have you ever received IMDb push notifications on your current device? When you said "in the past I used to get notifications almost every day" was this on the same or on a different device?

  2. What kind of push notifications were you seeing before? Were they related to your watchlist or were they recommendations and/or new trailer notifications?

  3. Has your locale/country always been Portugese/Portugal on this device or was this a recent change?

1 - Yes, same device, push notifications about new movies in the cinema, recommendations, trailers, etc. 

 

2 - What I'm receiving in my email ("notifications about new movies in the cinema, recommendations, trailers, etc" I used to receive directly in my phone through push notifications 

 

3 - Yes same country and same ISP.

I found a screenshot from the past where I received push notifications.

 

Look at IMDB icon. The badge number of push notifications. 

 

Now since I don't get them the icon don't get any badge number(2nd picture)

@Edward​ this is what I should get as push notifications as they are active on my IMDB app on my phone.

The screenshot is in Portuguese because I'm from Portugal but I think you understand.

Hello, I was notified  by a user with the name Haww (commented on a post I'm following...)  saying I should check notification settings in the IMDb app by clicking in the app icon. He doesn't show up here, maybe his post was deleted?

But I already did that since I stopped receiving push notifications from IMDb updated app.
I've received one more update since your last post and the problem remains.

Hi @damorim93​,

Please note we disable push notifications in early March 2023 (recommendations sent are local notifications from the app itself).

Our tech team has informed we have moved towards a more personalized push notification strategy on IMDb, and the majority of the push notifications we send are based on users' Watchlists.

Please also keep in mind we don't currently support the pt_PT locale which is why you are not receiving them.  However, we are planning to support Portuguese and other languages in the near future.

So basically imdb stopped sending notifications for IP addresses from Portugal? 

I have many movies in my watchlist and the app doesn't show me any notifications.

You say "However, we are planning to support Portuguese and other languages..." but IMDb app was already supporting Portuguese settings like In Theatres and News...  

Tomorrow I'll check if this also happens in another phone.

@Edward​ is there any website saying that IMDb stopped sending notifications in March?

I find it strange because inside imdb app I can choose the device region to Portugal and United States.

I didn't notice before but I'm not getting any notifications in my Gmail account also, only mails from when I changed my password and updates from this post. 

IMDb was already supporting pt_PT locale system. 
Can you please find out why I'm also not getting notifications in my email?

@damorim93​ For email notifications, please see the guide at https://help.imdb.com/article/imdb/general-information/manage-your-email-subscriptions-and-watchlist-notifications/GFSALECHJBMR4U5B where there are some very specific steps to follow. 

If you have followed all of the advice in the above guide, we will need a screen-grab of https://www.imdb.com/preferences/general and then 2-3 example titles which are (a) in your watchlist and (b) have release dates stored in IMDb for Portugal.  So that's titles which would qualify for a notification and yet you did not receive an email.

My email preferences:

I was expecting for the new Insidious movie.
As you can see in the 1st screenshot I have everything turned on but if I go to my mail box and search for IMDb I only get mails from changed password and updates from this post.

@damorim93​ When was this title added to your watchlist?  In order for it to qualify for a "From your Watchlist: In theaters" email notification, it needed to be in your watchlist before the release date in Portugal which was 6 July.

I added Insidious and Mission Impossible before they were released in Theaters, as before when everything was working and the notifications were working I work the same now as I did before.

Notifications simply stopped working from App to my Phone.

I only noticed that mail notifications don't work because I was only used to work with push notifications. 

I added the movie "The Last Voyage of the Demeter" 2 weeks ago more or less to my watchlist. 

The movie will be released in August 11. Didn't get any mail about this movie (Trailers, In Theaters, Recommendations, etc).

Let's see what happens on August 11.

By the way I'm paying more attention to this movie not only because it's a Horror movie but also because my birthday is 3 days later (14th) 

PS: I am addicted to Horror movies and I follow the movie Insidious very closely. The same for other movies like the The Pope's Exorcist,  The Exorcist: Believer is also in my Favorites List also to be released in October 12.

@damorim93​ Thanks for confirming. We have opened a ticket for the email issue with the appropriate team (ticket reference #P96572226).  This is an entirely separate issue than the phone notifications as email notifications are handled by a different system.
