Remove ads from the app!

Can we have an ad-free option please? I'd happily pay to get rid of the irrelevant junk sliding onto the edge of my screen.

They had an ad-free version, I believe using IMDb Pro. However, Apple won't let them have it in the Apple store. See https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/imdb_pro_missing_from_app

Yes. As Kevin Smith is fond of saying "TAKE MY MONEY!" Yes. For those of us who use an iPhone 24/7, the limited real estate screams for an AD FREE PAID VERSION!!

Would you pay an annual subscription?

For myself, I would be happier paying a once-only fee instead of an annual subscription.
For those who choose not to take this option, you still have the ad revenue.

There are hundreds of thousands of other apps that use this business model - with the added benefit of increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty.

How did imdb arrive at the conclusion that this business model will not work for them? Is this view based on evidence, or just "too hard - don't bother"??

Remember that a customer who experiences frustration every time they use your product will (sooner or later) ALWAYS take their business elsewhere. How long are you prepared to wait? Will a competitor have to arrive and take half your customer base before you change?

Same here. I'd happily pay once to remove the ads. It's a great app but the ads are irrelevant and annoying. Do better or let me remove them, for a price, of course. Cheers!

If imdb wont take our money... why not simply use an adblocker? For example: Weblock (http://www.weblockapp.com/) It blocks ads from showing up in the imdb app and just about every other app. Note: it only works if you are browsing from wifi.... unfortunately you'll still get ads when using cell data... but that's still an improvement.

To block ads (using Weblock) in the imdb app you'll need to add two custom blacklist addresses:
http://*_ad_size.*
and
http://*/mobile-ads/*

Thanks! I'm going to check it out right now. Today the IMDb app actually ADDED huge splash page ad that has to be dismissed before I can see anything. Not smart. Thanks again.

Amazing! Actually, the custom blacklist configuration was not even required when I installed Weblock just now. That must mean they have updated it to include those kind of ad server URLs.

Seriously, I have money. I want to give you money. Let me pay you to stop these stupid, intrusive, ads.

Really, it's getting ridiculous now. Why are ignoring another Revenue stream? Clearly there are MANY of us that would pay to stop seeing that crap and haVing it ruin the app experience.

I'm most annoyed by that fact that this had been an issue customers have complained about since day one and had never been addressed.

Just buy the Weblock app and say goodbye to these ads.
