Hi Lise -

I'm not certain if you are referring to our festival coverage page or the actual event page listing on the site; when festival award details are made available to us we will update that page with all the applicable information (ie, nominations, wins, etc.).  If you are referring to our Festival Central section of the site, I have reached out to our editorial team to request an update the coverage, as soon as I have a response I will let you know here.

Hi Lise -

I'm just following up to confirm that our Festival Central coverage for these events will be updated in the coming weeks, cheers!

Could you be a little more specific?  Shouldn't the TIFF page (still at 2017) contain a notice of when the 2018 version is going to be launched?

It should list the films that will be playing at tiff 2018 as they are announced. Those planning to attend the festival need a good resource (other than terrible TIFF site) to plan our festival.  Your festival coverage last year was updated as the information from tiff came in, or a few days later. Indeed, it was even sorted by groups (gala, special presentiation, masters, vanguard, etc).  No one cares once the festival is over, and during the festival it is too late.

If you're NOT going to post anything more on the festival page, please ADMIT it!  If you ARE, please state when it will be done by.  I need to know one way or the other if I can use IMDB for making my choices.

Sorry to intrude, but why don't you just just browse https://www.tiff.net/?

Because it doesn't have any feedback on any of the films.  Plus I want ready access to the careers of the directors and actors.

Well if you want it, there remains for you to update IMDb with the incoming TIFF information: IMDb is a collaborative site, mostly updated by benevolent contributors. This will help other people with the same needs as yours...

Take 10 films at random from the TIFF lineup and see how long it takes you to locate them in IMDB.

Literally all you have to do is search the name of the films on IMDB to get information on the actors and directors. I tried three different movies and it took two seconds to find.  Probably took less time than it took you to write all these com.ents.

There are many films in the "Contemporary World Cinema" program that you can only locate by searching on the director first.   And even if they all ARE directly accessible, do you want to be doing 200 lookups to find them all?  What if you need to look at a film more than once in coming to your final decisions?  The ease of looking them up only makes IMDB look all the more negligent for not posting the links.

Find these TIFF titles (they're all in IMDB someplace):

Husband Material
Duelles (Mothers' Instinct)
Gloria Bell
The Lie
The Vice of Hope
The Realm
Winter Flies
Our Time
Museum
El Angel
Museo
Roads in February

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Will the TIFF page be updated (when?), or is this as far as you're going to go?.

The Toronto Film Festival listed its full lineup over a week ago.  All you show on your page for the festival are two programs -- Galas and Special Presentations.  Are you going to list the other programs, or just these two?

Thanks everyone for your patience, the TIFF section at https://www.imdb.com/toronto/ has now been updated to include the majority of titles. We are working on the missing titles.

Anyone inconvenienced by IMDB's foot-dragging on updating the festival page is welcome to use my personal TIFF decision-support tool at http://64.34.185.203/index.aspx.  Use it with a full browser to review the lineup with TIFF and IMDB information combined, and with a smartphone to look up information during the festival.

Oh! So your hassle on IMDb was only to make sure your little app was fully functional...
I am speechless.
Moreover, I am not quite sure your use of IMDb complies with its terms of use and disclaimers. But I may be wrong.

So what's wrong with that?  Attendees still needed the data ... I just happen to make better use of it.  And it IMDB has any problems, I'll just take it down and run it locally.  I'm not making any money off of it ... it's just my way of efficiently reviewing the lineup.
