unknown episodes - Again, this system sucks

There is no way to add ENTIRE SERIES, so all the actors look foolish with this stupid designation.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled the SYSTEM is a joke. it wants it list the SERIES DP on an episode by episode ba....

As usual, the SYSTEM is a joke. I want to designate a DP as the series DP, it will not let me, it wants it on an episode by episode basis, #$@& stupid if they are the SERIES DP.

A "series" can be first added, as you know, then the episodes which are considered separate "titles" for various reasons, need to be added then have cast/crew added...as you know.

Have you actually ever worked in the business, on a TV series, he same crew people are there every damn day. It's stupid to have to click thru 4,000 times.

https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/adding-my-name-to-all-episodes-of-series-not-working includes an explanation of how to submit a credit to multiple episodes of a series. Selecting all episodes is one of the options.

That thread also illustrates that it would be wise to submit evidence that the credit appears on screen, at least for a representative sample of the episodes throughout the run of the series. You will need very good evidence for a submission for every episode of a series that has been running for decades. 4,000 episodes is about 16 years at 5 episodes a week - we have some long running series with more episodes than that.

A "problem" with regards to this forum, is something that is broken and needs to be fixed. In the case of your complaint, there is nothing that is a "problem." It's just how the site works. So there is no need to keep alerting to a "problem."

Its a canned response to a stupid system that offers a ccredit of "Series- Director of Photography" and absolutely no method or means to apply it.

No Cast or Crew are stored on the Series level in the database.  There is an ability to store them at that level as they may be needed to get the Series Title approved, but once they are listed at the Episode level they are deleted from the Series level.

The Cast and Crew data from the various Episodes are 'rolled up' and the resulting summary is displayed on the Series level page. It is important that all crew get listed at the Episode level so that the User can see the complete Cast and Crew for each episode. While a few people do work every episode of a Series, most people in at least the longer series only work some of them.

If everyone is correctly listed on each episode it is relatively easy to roll the credits up to display at the Series level, but trying to properly synchronize credits actually stored at the two levels would be very difficult.
