Title corrections to Black Lightning were declined

I really do not understand why it is so hard to correct episode titles now. I've been doing this for a while now but all of a sudden, none of my episode title changes are going through.

Black Lightning episodes are generally of the format: Book of <something>: Chapter x: <Chapter Title>

The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter One is more completely The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter One: Collateral Damage

The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter Two is more completely The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter Two: Unacceptable Losses

The submissions were: 210219-212410-613000 and 210219-212048-097000.

My guess is editor thought you made it badly formatted because you used colon twice instead of using - after the colon

When there are 2 or more subtitles following each other use alternatively : and - unless the title card has its own.

unless the title card has its own part makes your submission correct of course, but if you didn't provide this evidence in the first place, editor has no way of knowing if you made it badly formatted or if it's really like that onscreen.

So I say it's good to not accept everything blindly without evidence for at least some data types.

The entire rest of the series (along with many other television shows are formatted this way.) Also, the IMDb editors almost certainly have access to the same streaming that I do so if they are unsure, shouldn't they just check instead of forcing the work back on to people that volunteer their time?

Well, I'll just say this, all of my title correction updates has every applicable evidence provided in the first place (both screenshot and video etc) and at least 60-70% of them is declined in the first attempt regardless.

Hi Adrian -

We will need to list the title with the exact listing that is displayed on the Title Card for the show.  I noted you posted some screen grabs above, are these Title cards directly from these "Black Lightening" episodes?

Black Lightning episodes have two title cards. The first states the "book" (I only posted this once but all episodes have it) and the second states the chapter and the title of the chapter.

These are the title cards from the two episodes. Again, I'm not sure why this doesn't go through as pretty much all episodes from season 3 are formatted like this based on the title cards.

Hi Adrian -

Apologies for the delayed response.

I was able to confirm the separate title cards and have now updated the episode title listings on the site.

Cheers!

@Michelle

At this point, episode 3 needs to be corrected as well. It's title should be "The Book of Reconstruction: Book Three: Despite All My Rage...

This seems to be an ongoing issue with the show and with The Blacklist. Any chance, we can get that sorted out so that I don't have to post these weekly and have a week plus delay for getting the full titles?

Hi Adrian -

I have now corrected the third episode title as well.

To best ensure that your future episode title corrections for this series get approved, I encourage you to provide a source link, such as to the Network website where the title is referenced or a link to a screen grab of the actual on-screen title card (as you have done here) within the "Explanation" field of the submission.

If you continue experiencing declined title corrections despite providing evidence links in the "Explanation" filed, let us know here and our staff can investigate the issue further.

Cheers!

That seems suspiciously like a "no" but with a lot more words.

There is no way to get screen captures the night that episodes as they do not stream until the next day. This is also, a lot of work. It requires getting the screenshot and uploading it to some place that can host it and providing that link because IMDb does not provide a way to upload images directly in the submission.

I would think at some point that I have contributed enough correct information that IMDb may trust that I actually know what I'm doing. I have edited Black Lightning since it started airing and add 75-100 pieces of data to each episode outside of the title corrections. It's bizarre to me that the title corrections need "extra authentication" (which IMDb data editors could do if they were motivated to do so instead of just rejecting them and putting that work on volunteers.)
