The Alienist is listed twice

There is a series season that is being listed twice. The Alienist's second season and The Alienist:Angel of Darkness is being listed twice as they are the same thing. I tried to merge them with 200722-133515-739000 but it did not work and I sent the info to "contact us" as well.

The problem is getting worse as when I originally submitted it there were no episodes on this 2nd listing and now there are. This needs someone with a real gusto for fixing info to help.

Hi MikeTheWhistle -

This is a little complicated, but a correction certainly needs to be made regarding the two title pages.

The issue at hand is to determine if "The Alienist: Angel of Darkness" is part of the existing ongoing series "The Alienist", or confirm if this is a separate spin-off series of "The Alienist"?

Do you have any online sources to confirm the above?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but hopefully it helps. https://tvline.com/2018/08/16/the-alienist-sequel-angel-of-darkness-tnt-daniel-bruhl-luke-evans-dako...
and https://www.newsweek.com/alienist-season-2-start-date-cast-trailer-plot-angel-darkness-tnt-1518590
I hadn't thought of your question but i'd put this as an anthology series now similar to The Terror and American Horror Story. The article above says it's a continuation of The Alienist. TNT does muddy the waters though as on its webpage each is listed on different pages and it doesn't ever use "season". But it's the same main cast in both and it's a continuation of the general story line.

Not sure if this helps as I could probably make an argument for either but I think the stronger argument based on how it's being reported in the press generally is as a season two?

Something I saw when re-reading part of ur question is whether this is a "spin-off" and I definitely don't think it meets what my understanding of what a spin-off is. To me a spin-off is when one or two characters from a series go onto make a new series. In this case, the cast from The Alienist is brought almost in its entirety to The Alienist Angel of Darkness, in particular Bruhl, Evans, and Fanning.

I've already corrected this once. It looks like someone has added it yet again. Angel of Darkness is the second season of the Alienist as anyone can see by looking at the TNT website where it is referred to as season two.

Mike, the reason there were no episodes is because I merged all of them into the Alienist Season 2. But, I also was unable to remove the series and now someone has readded all the episodes which is ludicrous. How was this approved? Didn't they see that I merged all the previous episodes and that this series shouldn't exist?

See my thread here where I tried to merge the series after merging all the episodes but it was unsuccessful and now someone has added, incorrectly, all the episodes again.

Hi MikeTheWhistle and Adrian -

I have now moved the second series listing to the existing series under "The Alienist", the changes should be live on the site shortly.

Cheers!
