No Status

Someone removed "Short" genre from obviously short film countless times

No matter have many times I marked this 25 minutes movie as a short:

Courage & Stupidity

https://imdb.com/title/tt0436194

somehow, in very SHORT time, genre is removed. Can this be prevented in any way?

Thanks.

Hi plur62 -

The "Short" genre has now been reinstated and will display again live on the site shortly.  I have also taken steps to help prevent any future incorrect removals.

Cheers!

@Michelle

Thanks!

If possible, same thing should be done with this 41min film: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11758792

I’ve added “Short” genre over 10 times, it’s been accepted but removed very shortly.

@Michelle

This is happening again, I can't add Short as a genre to 25min Courage & Stupidity (2005), declined multiple times.

Hi @plur62 -

I suspect that the reason why the short genre was removed was because the runtime for this title is currently listed as "45 minutes" and to qualify as a "Short" a title should have a runtime of 44 minutes or less.  Do you have any sources to help confirm if the runtime is less than 45 minutes?

For "Courage & Stupidity", can you post the 18-digit submission reference numbers associated with your declined updates?  I can then investigate further.

@Michelle I took a look at what's happening with that title, because as you can see @plur62 says "41min film" in above post where he says he added the genre "over 10 times" but it was removed very shortly and you say you took "further steps to help prevent" removal of it in below post, you reinstated it and "took further steps" because it was 41 min at that time.

So because of these "steps", apparently he made some deceptive things (like changing its runtime on Amazon and other VOD services) just to convince imdb staff to remove these "steps" you took and remove the short genre again.

BUT, check this archived page of that Amazon link now: https://archive.md/dZSbC

And check this interview of the director: https://universalcinema.ca/on-making-reloaded-an-interview-with-george-tounas/

Quote from his reply in interview: ...film like “Reloaded” with its 41 min. runtime is of course more challenging than producing a short film...

So, what happened is, he kinda "re-released" it as 45 min just because of this edit war on imdb, just to convince imdb staff to remove the short genre.

But you can see from archived Amazon link and from the interview, it was originally released as 41 minutes in festivals and online VOD services. But that info is not even present on IMDb now. 45 mins may be added as an additional runtime entry with a "re-release" attribute but default runtime should always stay 41 mins and it should have Short genre.

Here we go again, 25 minutes short Courage & Stupidity is in feature film category again, adding Short as a genre is declined several times. Don't know how and why.

Hi @plur62  -

I have now reinstated the "Short" genre on the title page. I have locked it so it can't be deleted again.

Cheers!

Great post and thank you for sharing. I was considering that option and found this post so changed my opinion.
