Some Guy named Gustavo Goulart

Yo, for anybody reading this for whatever reason, if you read the trivia sections on IMDb, be on the lookout for some guy named Gustavo Goulart if his name pops up. Hes like some Brazillian singer/songwriter who likes horror movies and I think he runs like the Brazilian Whose Line is it anyway or something. Someone or the dudes been posting his name all around IMDb on what I can only assume are his favorite shows in the trivia parts, American Horror Story and Narcos to name a few. It's just a little thing, but this might be like practical joke or some crap. Just change it if you see it.

Im not quite sure why this is happening, but my money's on hes trying to get noticed by more people by tagging his name on the most looked at trivia. Like I said, its little, but it's annoying to see some out of left field guy coming outta nowhere and presumably taking credit for stuff he obviously wasnt involved in or affected in any way, as well as giving himself fake prestige that doesnt belong to him. Not to mention hes just lying in some of them. Apologies if I seem like I'm being a hardass, this kind of people just get on my nerves, and in my opinion demean the work of the actual actors and actresses.

Lol Dude, for 5 MILLION? Like I get it if you start shit when you're little, but theres no freaking way in hell the guys done 5 million plot authoring position jobs. This arguably just shows the guys just posting him name on everybody's resume. It's all way too coincidental too. Not to mention the guys on YouTube, and has like maybe 1.5 subscribers. So I'd hardly call that influential. Nice outfield line by the way, made me laugh

OK forget the stadium, the guys invented baseball at this point! I dont care who the hell you are, Only Daniel Day-Lewis could helm a film at Age 5, and only because hes method acting as a 5 year old, this just blows everything outta the goddamn park

I freaking know dude, it's insane, and to think the only thing I trust about this lunatic is that his favorite show apparently is Niptuck and that he has a thing for Wagner Moura. This is the IMDb scandal of the century right here.

Also says on his bio he has an IQ of 180. Einstein AND Stephen Hawking had160. Let that sink in.

Cliff: As I mentioned upthread, the "5.2 million plot outlines" appears to be a problem with the IMDb search function for plot authors -- not anything that Gustavo has done. Many of those titles don't have any plot outlines at all, much less ones that Gustavo signed. If you search for your own name or my name, you may find that each of us supposedly has written 5.2 million plot outlines, too.

That said, I am suspicious of some of Gustavo Goulart's credits, such as his acting roles in direct-to-video movies such as American Forces (1994) (V) and Keep This Secret (1995) (V), which he supposedly starred in when he was 5 or 6 years old. I notice that not one of the other cast or crew members of those titles has any other IMDb credits at all. If I reviewed the cast and crew for some of his other titles, I wouldn't be surprised to find the same thing -- that none of them have any other credits at all.

I would recommend looking at the evidence for each of Gustavo's alleged acting roles in feature-length titles and seeing if those titles merit deletion. (He does seem to have made some short YouTube videos which can be kept in IMDb assuming that they are verified as being on YouTube.)

Hi Michelle,

Let me share that I find your answer a little bit unfair: it does not take much time and much brain to notice there is a serious problem with this filmography: if you just consider the fist movie on his acting list, American Forces:
- he has the lead role, at the age of 4! (born in September 1989, "released" in May 1995)
- if you check ALL the other people entries, this is the one and only single credit entry in their respecting filmography, for ALL of them!
I leave aside the 9.9 rating with 96 user feedbacks.

We find exactly the same pattern for the next ones Keep this secret, (released August 95, 98 voters, all single credited entries), But I'm right!, ..., Bank Robbers Club, etc.
Moreover, all these titles have rather close ttconst, showing that they have all been registered in a narrow time frame.

His production of shorts is also impressive, but never with the same people, for which it is also the only filmography entry.

So I think it is up to the IMDb team to take its responsibilities for such an apparent wide range scam. We, as willing contributors helping the IMDb for free, have not the tools and access to media references that would make the cleaning easy. Really glad to help but this appears to be way beyond capacities.

Cliff: I am willing to help with this, but I think you may be overestimating how many fake titles need to be dealt with. If the same person claims to be an actor, director, and writer (for example) of the same nonexistent film, then that requires only one title deletion, not three.

Also keep in mind that some of Gustavo's titles are actual YouTube videos which are eligible for listing in IMDb under current policy. For example, for The Real Acting (2014) (TV), he has credits as Director, Writer, Self, Producer, Cinematographer, Music, and Editor. That video is on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5ksOKzyLgY, so it shouldn't be deleted from IMDb (under current policy), and so that reduces the work you have to do in terms of title deletion.

I think the best thing to do would be to get started by going to https://help.imdb.com/contact and seeing how long it takes to submit one title deletion request. Then multiply that by the number of fake titles and you will have a better estimate of the workload involved.

When I get a chance, I will try to help out by submitting deletions for some titles that are fake as far as I can tell.

Cliff: If the fake crew and actors lose their only credit, won't they eventually lose their name pages as well automatically, without requiring additional data submissions?

I am not sure, I stumble on empty pages occasionnally... Or maybe after a certain period of time.
Michelle should be able to tell what is the process with these pages.
