Script Producer Credit - which department?

I've searched but couldn't find anything definitive as to whether "script producer" goes in the Producer section or the Script section. There are many more now in the Producer section but that could be because they need to be transferred, since Script is a new department. Any advice?

Difficult to say for sure, but probably two options as you said:

- Producers (2,577 script producers)

- Script and Continuity Department, a fairly new department (598 script producers)

I would wait for the official advice from IMDb, but that’s just me.

How do I get official advice from IMDb ? I think i wrote to them awhile ago but nothing I know the guy posted the documentary or bio to Vikki’s cornell twitter which she tried to get it taken down and IMDb would not I just very interested in watching it ! If she wants it taken down it must have something doing with his death maybe Chris n Chester or rumors of Chris death not being a suicide or illlumunti involvement?? I dunno I just seen the picture of it with was black background with picture of Chris on bottom left

In my opinion (from a very quick web search), various descriptions for a Script Producer indicate the job title should be listed in the Script and Continuity Department.

Having said that, I agree with Eboy and wait for an answer from an IMDb representative.

Thanks! I agree - it's easier to omit data and wait for later than try to change it if you get it wrong.
Also, as a similar comparison, there are 16,861 casting producers in the Casting Department, and 283 casting producers in the Producer Department. It seems just having the word 'producer' in the job doesn't automatically place it in the Producer section.

I never said producer I just know it on IMDb but I can’t find it when someone posted it on twitter just curious to watch it even if it opinions or facts

Hi, Nick:
It seems just having the word 'producer' in the job doesn't automatically place it in the Producer section.
Indeed! While around 94% of all the credits with the word producer in the job are currently in the PRODUCERS section (10,864,042 credits in 4,617 jobs), there are many of them spread across other departments...

For instance, as of 23 Mar 2020...
(hereafter, "job"=job with the word producer within)

Thanks for reaching out for clarification.
Script Producers belong to the Script and Continuity Department. I hope this helps.

Just out of curiosity. Is there a plan to move those 2,577 ”script producers” under ”Producer” department, then? I mean the problem (same occupations scattered between two departments) doesn’t really go away with this thread.

Hi, Eboy:
...those 2,577 ”script producers” under ”Producer” department...?
This is very interesting. You're correct that, according to the numbers from the field browser, there are 2,577 script producer credits under PRODUCERS section.

However, when we analyze the plain text files (24 Apr 2020), the actual number is way greater than that: over 10,770 credits! Same goes for the other most prevalent jobs, where the actual number is around 2.5 to 4 times as great as the number shown in the field browser. At first I thought, "perhaps they don't count episodes"; however, that's not the case, since 99% of the script producer credits belong to episodes (both in SCRIPT and PRODUCERS sections).

Here's the breakdown (so you can check the count):

Thanks for the info. I have a feeling that it’s not that easy to just ”mass move” (e.g.) ”script producer” credits from Producer department to Script department. Probably requires some manual labor, so to speak.

Not sure, though, but that’s the feeling I have based on some previous issues (e.g. correcting typos/grammar/use of capitals on probably hundreds of different occupations on different departments).
