Question about the uncredited "characters created by" policy

This policy is pretty specific but I'm wondering if it applies to uncredited credits outside of just "characters created by". I was watching G.I. Joe: The Movie and it has writing credits for "creator" and "comic book" that are all uncredited. It seems like these should be removed because they are essentially in the same vain as "characters created by" but this is not covered in the guide. So, should these credits be removed?

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for checking. Yes it looks like those credits were added before the policy was introduced. I've removed those now.

Thanks,
Will

I don't know what "creator" referred to here, but removing uncredited "comic book" credits suggests that uncredited source material authors cannot be listed, which the submission guide does not say.

Shakespeare, for instance, has about 85 uncredited listings.

I would say that it does not suggest any such thing at all. It is applying the known policy that saying who "created" a comic book is nearly impossible to say. Also, the "comic book" on this particular movie doesn't make a lot of sense as I don't believe it is based on a particular comic but just generically the comic series. Plays, books, etc. are much easier to determine who the created is (unless, of course, you buy the conspiracy that Shakespeare didn't write his plays at all.)

If the story was not based on a comic book, then I of course agree there should be no credits listed for "comic book", independent of the cited rule.

Peter, policy explicitly is about uncredited character creators, while full uncredited source materials are still good to go.

Not exactly a fan of that decision: a lot of information will be lost and I have a feeling that at some point in the future we will need to restore it. I have an idea of uncredited character creators wikia, but I'm not too sure on that...
