Production Accountant Credit
Production Accountants are Department Heads that oversee $100 Million or more in a season. We even get on-screen credit as Production Accountant or Production Controller. Why does IMDB throw them into "Series Additional Crew" with PA's and office staff? Other department heads such as Art Director, Locations, Transportation or any other department heads are credited accordingly in IMDB to match their on-screen credits. Production Accountants nationwide would very much appreciate if you would correct this issue. You can check my last series "Rebel" for ABC or look up my IMDB Kathy Riley I (additional crew) and you will see what it looks like to have been in this business for 30+ years as a department head lumped in with Additional Crew. United Talent Agency represents Directors of Photography, Assistant Directors, Production Designers, Costume Designers and they are looking to represent Production Accountants now as well.

Dear IMDB,
As you can see by the many comments coming from the Accountant's in this post, this
group has long been denied any recognition except "additional crew". If most people had any
clue what Accountants really deal with day to day on a production, we might actually even get
a sincere "Thank You" from somebody. Hell.....maybe even a coffee! I have been in this Accounting world for 30+ years also. Please give this group of people the respect they deserve. Every single thing that people have written here is the tip of the iceberg for what they deal with. Not asking for much!
@Kathy - THANK YOU!!

We get screen credit, and we are listed as a separate department (like grips/elect/camera)

We (Accounting Team) are the department the first to start and the last to finish up on every show, well deserve to have our own title department in IMDB Credit. Production Accounting team is so tech involved that we use professional software and APPs to support a show's multi-million operation, from pre-prod, to principle, to post-prod. IMDB obviously provides a sea of film data and is so helpful for entertainment biz research, but is now out dated, and innovation is needed.

I am so grateful that Kathy did this, it was long overdo. Without us, things can’t continue, everyone relatively making a part of the production needs to be paid. Millions of dollars shift in and out in minutes. I believe we deserve to have our Titles posted as what they are, how is it that we are additional crew. Additional to me sounds like an extra, could things take place without us. Everyone on a production is important it’s a huge team effort and everyone should be acknowledged as such.

I agree with Kathy Riley, Accountants should have their own credit category. Vote YES.

We work long hours as specialized crew. I don't work "banker's hours" and neither does my team. Accountants need to be thought of as an integral part of the whole process. IMDB should realize that we deserve more that being lumped into the "Additional Crew" category. Every last one of the crew is doing their jobs to make the Director's vision come alive....even Accounting.

Production Accountants are not only department heads but are required to interact with ALL depts on a production. We report to the studios, ex producers, etc and are on the productions from beginning of prep to halfway through post. It is not an inconsequential production position.
I would also like to see my staff separated from the masses as I use IMDB to vet future hires.
Thank you

They call it show BUSINESS for a reason. No entity is funding any of these projects to lose money. Accountability is more vital than ever to the continued production of content. Our role is the protect the financial interest of the financier, service, distribute and account for the agreed upon money invested , and collaborate with producers and the studio on status, estimates, and recommendations on production execution and spending. Covid protocols, converting to all digital, and a twofold increase in the amount of financial reporting have all added to our current challenges. It’s beyond insane to think we are not in our own category in IMDB yet. Thank you Kathy for spearheading this. Kevin

Accountants are the financial life force of a production. The Accounting team are usually the first folks on a given project and the last to leave, often carrying on through Prep, Production and Post Production. Nothing happens if the crew and creative talent do not get paid. There are no supplies, equipment, props, costumes, etc. if those vendors do not get paid. Only Accounting and the Production office interact with every single person on a production. Yet, to quote Rodney D., we get no respect, I tell ya, no respect. Let's turn that around and show respect for the profession and the incredibly hard working crew who make the money flow. Their own catagory on IMDb is the least you can do.

I wholeheartedly agree. Production accountants and controllers should be listed as such in IMDB. Why should people new to the business, with little or no experience, get to be listed in such categories as "producers" when - if they quit - they would never be missed. But the finance people, with whom the financial stability of the project rests, are merely "miscellaneous crew". IMDB needs to adjust its credits to reflect importance!
