Production Accountant Credit
Production Accountants are Department Heads that oversee $100 Million or more in a season. We even get on-screen credit as Production Accountant or Production Controller. Why does IMDB throw them into "Series Additional Crew" with PA's and office staff? Other department heads such as Art Director, Locations, Transportation or any other department heads are credited accordingly in IMDB to match their on-screen credits. Production Accountants nationwide would very much appreciate if you would correct this issue. You can check my last series "Rebel" for ABC or look up my IMDB Kathy Riley I (additional crew) and you will see what it looks like to have been in this business for 30+ years as a department head lumped in with Additional Crew. United Talent Agency represents Directors of Photography, Assistant Directors, Production Designers, Costume Designers and they are looking to represent Production Accountants now as well.

I'm so happy about this - I've been a Production Accountant on maybe 100 projects and I would like to be out of "Additional Crew" - we are the first people hired and the last people off. We work so closely with producers that some accountants have negotiated Assoc Prod credits. We should have our own Category!

We are a vital department and should be owed the respect, acknowledgement and visibility as any other department head.

Accountants, Controllers and their staffs have been getting the short end of it for the entirety of my 4 decade career. It's bad enough to get screen credit after the PA's and Craft Service department when we're expected to not only manage multi-million dollar budgets, but answer for them as well. IMDb piles on by not even giving us appropriate categories, for reference to propspective Producers and Studio Execs, if nothing else. There are multiple IATSE locals for us so how can we not be considered a unique department and have our own category?? Accounting is the only department that would bring a show and it's studio to their knees if we weren't out there protecting their interests (read MONEY). We're expected to be the Scorekeepers/CPA's/Compliance Officers/Policy Enforcers/Labor Relations/HR/Co-Producers/Therapists to everyone from the Producers to the PA's - particularly on Tier 1 projects. I'm just sayin'...

I am a production accountant and financial controller for over 40 years. I have been recognized in the Marquis Who's Who in America as a Production Accountant/Financial Controller. If Who's Who can recognize this classification, I would think that IMDB could also. Check out Wall Street Journal September 7, 2022 issue. You will see a picture of me along with other prominent people who are recognized for their work in their field.

I am a production accountant/financial controller for over 40 years. We have never had the recognition that our department truly deserves. I have now been inducted into the Marquis Who's Who in America as a Production Accountant/Financial Controller and have been recognized By Marquis Who's Who for a Lifetime Achievement Award which will be published in the Wall Street Journal on September 7, 2022 paper edition. If Who's Who recognizes the importance of this position, why can't our own industry recognize us?

We, Accountants, are far overdue for a separate category! We are a specific department, like others already listed, and should have equitable recognition on this platform!

Yes, this would be great and boost the exposure and recognition of production accounting. It appears that production accounting is not deemed valuable, when in fact the production can’t function without the money. We impact each single crew each day through A/P and Payroll. It seems to me that the finance department is the most powerful department to productions. But a question, would the finance staff specifically Payroll fall under the new category, too?

Agreed. Production accountants should no longer be dumped into “additional crew”

Thank you Kathy. This is a long time coming. Accounting is integral to process. We are definitely more than miscellaneous crew.
