Production Accountant Credit

Production Accountants are Department Heads that oversee $100 Million or more in a season.  We even get on-screen credit as Production Accountant or Production Controller.  Why does IMDB throw them into "Series Additional Crew" with PA's and office staff?  Other department heads such as Art Director, Locations, Transportation or any other department heads are credited accordingly in IMDB to match their on-screen credits.  Production Accountants nationwide would very much appreciate if you would correct this issue.  You can check my last series "Rebel" for ABC or look up my IMDB Kathy Riley I (additional crew) and you will see what it looks like to have been in this business for 30+ years as a department head lumped in with Additional Crew.  United Talent Agency represents Directors of Photography, Assistant Directors, Production Designers, Costume Designers and they are looking to represent Production Accountants now as well.

Accountants are the first position hired after the showrunner, thats how important they are!   OK every now and then a producer is hired first... but the first question the producer asks is "WHO is the accountant?"     How are they buried in credits when the entire show hinges upon their numbers.  They work the longest on the production - they are the producer's right hand, they are the only position to deal with every single other department of every show.   They are truly more the producer of the show than the PRODUCER most of the time!   GIVE THEM THEIR JUST DUE!   thank you.

This is a good suggestion, I want to see my name in the credits on IMDB. Ps, it's too early to think of something witty and humorous, apologies.

@AdamD Points for showing up to support!  Was it too early to vote?

The person responsible for tracking and budgeting hundreds of millions of dollars in spend should not be found as an afterthought in the “other crew” where you have to scroll endlessly through miscellaneous job titles! Give controllers and production accountants their own category!

Exactly! Studios make creative decisions based on what we do on a daily basis.  Thanks for your support, Laura!

Our work doesn't specifically end up on screen but a production wouldn't last long without us!  IMDb, please put right this oversight!

I agree! They should have Accountants or Accounting Dept or something similar. We aren’t additional. The productions don’t hire us after production has started, we get hired well into Pre-Prod and stay well after Wrap.

It would be great to get an Accounts Section on IMDB as sometimes on a single show you have more than 20+ in the Accounts Team and NO TV or Film is without them on a Production.

Totally agree. PA's should be rightly acknowledged for the key role they play in production. Time this was sorted!

I agree 100%.

All departments quite rightly would say that without THEM there wouldn’t be a production, but would they even turn up if they wouldn’t get paid….by Accounts?

To echo other comments, we’re very often first in last out, not only on shoot days, but way before prep even, and long after everyone has jumped onto other jobs.

We’ve all worked extremely hard to get here, and it does smack in the face when you point friends and family to the *misc* crew section.

Accounts work does involve a heavy workload that can be very challenging and technical, and teams can be massive.

Separate recognition on IMDb is well deserved.

I agree, we are an integral part of the production and deserve the respect that our jobs deserve.

I support the request to have a category added.

Absolutely agree, and support this. Accounts are core team. We deserve to be acknowledged and assigned our own department.

I wonder why our up votes are going down by the day - I don't think any of us have changed our minds lol

just yesterday we were at 65 and today we are down to 62 - glitch maybe?

@Chescalera Thanks for noticing, I will reach out to @Michelle (IMDb).

@kathyriley you're welcome - I have been watching this because it is important and I noticed it originally was -2 then went up then maintained and now it is randomly going down which makes no sense unless people are changing their minds

@Chescalera the other possibility is that there are other in the IMDB Community who aren't commenting but are voting down the suggestion 🤔 😞

@SamScowcroft I really hope not - if it doesn't effect them they shouldn't try to hinder our growth. smh

@Chescalera  Here's one response.  Not from Michelle but I think there are members that are allowed to respond:

Me:  @Michelle: Hi Michelle...apparently our UpVotes are going down which we find to be a bit strange. Should we be concerned?  Keyword Expert Response:  "People are allowed to "down vote" an idea post.  If it only went down by a couple of votes, that is undoubtedly what is happening".

@kathyriley so then…. Why would it go down? So weird

Maybe

When clicking to increase people might be accidentally hitting the down button?

@Mish_AC you could be correct because the up vote is to the left maybe they only see the one to the right?

People are allowed to "down vote" an idea post. If it only went down by a couple votes, that is undoubtedly what is happening.
