please delete this never shot film

This film Le Gendarme et l'Empereur (1984)https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8768374/reference  seems to have been recently entered on the IMDb. It features technical crew and cast (!!), and even ratings (!!!!) But... it is a project that NEVER happened (not even one day of shooting) because of French superstar comic actor Louis de Funès' death, at old age, months before planned shooting. This film should therefore be totally deleted... unless unfilmed projects are authorized now ? Thanks ! ;)

Tip: You’re probably correct, but give some evidence on your submission to the database.

Hard to give evidence of a non-existing thing ! ;)
You can view Louis de Funès' full filmography on French Wiki (which doesn't even list "Le gendarme et l'Empereur" in the 'cancelled projects' section !) and on official UniFrance website. Last film ever shot by Louis de Funès is notoriously bad "Le gendarme et les gendarmettes".

NOTE: his Wikipedia page doesn’t even mention it, so it’s advisable to add a comment on there, to help the world know – given you’re interested enough to comment here about it. ;-\

I'm interested enough to comment about it here on IMDb just because it seems totally absurd to see a 100% non-existent film on IMDb with credits/distributor/ratings. Not interested in Wikipedia, but thanks !

Well why list WP, then. Makes no sense not to add it there if you know it's missing from the list of his unmade ones. Instead of expecting someone else in the world to spend their time doing it. But whatever. Hate this kind of ’not bothered' attitude, while complaining about the same issue elsewhere.

Grégory Alexandre, never knew that movie is considered notoriously bad in France: it was beloved among other Gendarme movies in USSR and later Post-Soviet countries and while it was never my personal favorite I'd be relucatant to say it was that bad, if incredibly forgettable.

added a note here for a future francophone francophile to add, accordingly:

Hi, Grégory and jimthing:
unfilmed projects are authorized now?

give some evidence on your submission to the database
I think that both questions are answered on the trivia page of the very film...

Yes, that’s all well and good, but does the film remain on the site if it was never filmed and thus doesn't actually exist?

A script and cast/crew ready to film is not a finished product that a site like IMDb have. Otherwise there’d be thousands of "what if" films listed on here.

Even top names in Hollywood have scripts etc that never cross the filming finish line; they don't remain on site either longterm if "in production" status fails.
__________
The question is, is there anywhere this could be mentioned on site?

I'd suggest a Trivia under the actor (director, too?) pages, and maybe a comment on the star actor’s bio, perhaps...?

It seems that a script was in process, but AFAIK the project didn't even reach the Announced status, so I believe the film wouldn't be eligible to be listed on the site.

Agreed!

Let’s see if the OG commentator can 'be bothered' do for any of that for themselves, shall we.
