Photo disappeared

After my mother's death, I went through a lot of trouble to get a photo and biography of her uploaded to your site 2 years ago.  Her name is Wesley Marie Tackitt.  It has disappeared in the last 6 months, along with many of her contemporarys'.  I was to understand for people who were retired and/or dead, this was a legacy service that would go on in perpetuity.

Hi, Francesca Brunner-Kennedy. Where did you get the idea that there is a legacy service that would go on in perpetuity?

Because I was told that by IMDB personnel back in 2016.  They told me I was allowed to post one photo and a limited bio for a relative who had died.  I had to prove she was dead, my relationship, etc. Although my account was wiped out with the particular discussion, I have a few e-mail records of a "Family Tribute Waiver Request" to waive the fee.

In that case, I'm guessing that somebody reported the photo for some reason, and it was subsequently removed.

Hello, Francesca Brunner-Kennedy

Photos added through IMDb Pro last only as the services do, so if there was no payment, then photos will disappear. They can be re-added by paying again.

Pictures can also be added through another service, Title Scorecard. It would lack the convenience of IMDb Pro (for example the ability to choose the primary photograph: IMDb editors will do that), but these won't disappear and are usually what you see on pages of deceased actors. It might be possible to get in touch with the studios or distribution companies responsible for some of the movies and add photographs of your mother to IMDb through such means.

Well, there is also the discontinued Publicity Photos program.

IMO your policy of requiring someone to pay YOU for posting a portrait photo that contributes to the quality of your web site is ludicrous. Both of my parents are in your data base and only one has a photo. My father directed 51 motion pictures during the period of 1930's to 1950's and you have deleted his photo. You really should revisit your policy.

Reesemarin, you might want to vote for this idea: https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/profile-photos

As much as it pains me to effectively bump this old thread (which was apparently remarkably well resolved long ago), I wanted for informational purposes to bring it to the attention of our dear Karen who has exhibited extensive interest in similar subject matters. I suppose while I'm at it, I should invite Daniel Francis Gardecki and bderoes as well. Some additional participants of the forum may be interested but perhaps it is more likely that they couldn't care less about the Family Tribute Wavier program (which is likely just as retired and grandfathered as numerous other programs concerning IMDb image galleries). Hopefully, at some point, all of the forum regulars will be on the same page in regards to IMDb performer profile pictures and thumbnails thereof.

I'm afraid I'm new to the community, so I'm not really sure if any of you actually work for IMDB, or this is the right way to contact them.

Thus far, no IMDb company person has replied to this topic.

The term I found in an old e-mail is "Family Tribute Waiver"

Hi Francesca,

Thanks for your post and patience!

Given the situation in which the image was originally uploaded to IMDb (as part of a Family Tribute Waiver Request), this should remain displayed on the name page. I've re-instated this for you now and it looks to be live and visible:

https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0846230

I've taken steps to ensure this is no longer removed and I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you.

Have a great new year!

Thanks,

Joel

Joel,

Thank you for your quick reply and action.  However, I noticed at the same time my mother’s photo disappeared that many of her friends’ and contemporaries’ photos disappeared as well.  The ones I have particularly noticed are Matthew Tobin (born 8/10/29) and Lillian Adams (born 5/13/22).  This makes me suspect that this was not just an isolated incident, but an across the board clean-up that inadvertently impacted a lot of tributes.  Please investigate that.

Hi Francesca,

Thanks for your response.

I can see my colleague has responded to you now via our customer service platform. As a result I'm going to leave this thread closed to stop any convolution, we can continue to look into any issues you may have within the ongoing communication there. You'll receive another email from me through that platform shortly and we can try and get any issues you have resolved!

Thanks!

Joel
