"Obruchka z rubinom" (2018) - there were 3 duplicate entries for this Ukrainian TV Series, but data-reviewer merged them into a wrong one

First, a short rant on how frustrated I am with IMDb's data-reviewers incompetency when it comes to all Ukraine-related titles: As always, IMDb data-reviewers messed things up, even though I made it PAINFULLY obvious to them what they needed to do, and they still messed up big time. Can you finally hire at least ONE data editor who knows at least some basic Ukrainian language?! It is so pathetic how I have to correct hundreeds and hundreeds of IMDb titles, because you hired some Russian-speaking data reviewers who clearly have some Ukrainophobic undertones, since they routinely rename Ukrainian actors/directors/etc. names from their Ukrainian language-based versions to their Russian language-based versions, they also routinely rename Ukrainian films' titles from their Ukrainian language-based versions to their Russian language-based versions and the list goes on.

Secondly, a short description of the issue with the title that I am talking about:

There is this Ukrainian TV series "Obruchka z rubinom" (2018) - there were 3 seperate duplicate entries for this Ukrainian TV Series (one in Ukrainian, one in English and one in Russian). The correct one is obviously in Ukrainian (i.e. "Obruchka z rubinom" (2018)), but the data-reviewer incorrectly merged the 3 entities into the Russian one (even though the correct one, per credits and all, is obviously the Ukrainian one and I made it SO BLOODY clear to them that the Ukrainian version is the right version).

Below are details from my two request to merge the duplicate Russian and duplicate English entries into the correct Ukrainian one:

TV series "Obruchka z rubinom" has 3 seperate entries on IMDb, 2 of which are obviosly duplicates. Per IMDb rules, for the "original title" field IMDb uses " the original title of a movie/show in its original language as it appears on screen (on the title card) in the opening credits" (https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/title-formatting/G56U5ERK7YY47CQB). Original title in original language for this TV Series is Ukrainian phrase "Обручка з рубіном" which is transcribed into English as "Obruchka z rubinom" (see the snippet of the title card https://imgur.com/a/BxTl8oK taken from the 2nd episode taken @1:24 from the vod release on kanalukraina.tv https://kanalukraina.tv/episode/t-c-kolco-s-rubinom-2-seriya )

  • In summary, out of 3 entries on IMDb, we need to merge two duplicates into the correct title:
    * "Obruchka z rubinom" ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10607368/ ; correct original title -> KEEP THIS)
    * "Ruby Ring" ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11942026/ ; duplicate entry with an incorret original title -> MERGE this into the corrent entry)
    • ** #210917-205807-057000 (imdb datareviewer did this incorrectly merging everything into the incorrect Russian title, instead)
  • * "Koltso s rubinom" ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10121784/ ; duplicate entry with an incorret original title -> MERGE this into the corrent entry)
    • ** #210917-205805-076000 (imdb datareviewer did this incorrectly merging everything into the incorrect Russian title, instead)

TL:DR: Firstly, fix this title to the correct Ukrainian-language based title (i.e.,"Obruchka z rubinom"). Secodnly, your data-reviewers should stop this Ukrainophobic / Anti-Ukraian bullshit: either hire some volonteers with Ukrainian-language knowledge (I can even do this), or at the very least instruct your Russian-speaking data-reviwers to stop this never-ending Ukrainophobic / Anti-Ukraian bullshit they are constantly doing on Ukraine-related actors and films.

Thanks for flagging this.

I have submitted an update to change the primary title text for https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10121784/ - This should be reflected on the platform in the next few hours.

Thanks for your patience while we looked into this.

@Rida Thanks for looking into this - I can confirm that now this TV series https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10121784/ has a correct Ukrainian-language-based original title of "Obruchka z rubinom". Thank you!

Are you sure you're merging them the right way around?

Only the incorrect ones need to be edited.

If you press edit on the correct one and type in the title of an incorrect one, then the correct one will be merged into the incorrect one, no matter what you put in the explanation box.

IMDB admins put title corrections as unspecified alternative titles a lot for some reason, so you have to delete the incorrect alternative title and resubmit the title correction again.

However they've never overruled a title correction to make it go in the opposite direction in my experience.

They only overrule things when they're obvious, like they will with some profiles for guy which I've merged in the last hour or two.

The guy in question has done multiple jobs over the years, but mainly seems to work as a director/producer/production assistant/runner, and is profile number II.

He doesn't seem to have a single website or social media page which includes all his credits.

They're all scattered over multiple websites and social media pages, all of which I've added to his official sites.

I've also added his birth name along with some nicknames to his profile.

I submitted a merge request for profile number VII to be merged into profile number III as they both contained the same credit.

I then submitted merge requests for profile numbers VIII, IX and X to be merged into profile number II.

I then found out that profile number III and profile number II were also the same person, so I then submitted a request for profile number III to be merged into profile number II.

However as I'd already submitted a merge request for profile number VII to be merged into profile number III, before I knew that profile number III and profile number II were the same person, I guarantee my merge request for profile number VII will be overruled and merged directly into profile number II.

That will be 5 profile merges in total (if you include the profile they're being merged into).

It's possible that he has another 2 duplicate profiles as they each contain a single title, which seem like the type of thing he would do, however I can't find anything to confirm that they're also him.

It happens, it happened twice to me. Just like OP, I explained everything in detail with links and such, and made it very clear which title should be the one that needs to stay in the end and I definitely made the correction the right way around but the editor was like "nah, I don't care about any of these explanations and I will go ahead and merge them the opposite direction for no apparent reason because why not"

Hi @daniel_francis_gardecki thanks for your reply. I can unequivocally confirm that I have indeed done the right thing (like in the epynomous movie :D) and chose the two WRONG titles (i.e., the 2 duplicate entries with the "original title" in the wrong language) and have asked the data editors/reviewers through my submission to merge those two duplicate titels into the correctly named entry.

Just to clarify, I am a very experienced IMDb contributor (I was registered on the old getsatisfaction-based IMDb community forum under a different name, and just arrived to this new Sprinklr-based one recently). I am very familiar with both the rules of IMDb Help Center (help.imdb.com) and the general contributor expectations for title edits (as defined by IMDb staff).
