New movie title submission keeps getting rejected

I'm trying to submit a new movie title - a Korean movie called 외계+인. But my submissions keep getting rejected because there's "lack of supporting evidence." I added proof about the movie: News articles, screenshots, even a Youtube video of the movie trailer. What more do I need to add to get this movie title approved, or is it simply not eligible yet?

Here's the recent submission: #220507-200346-239000

Hi, I gave it a try for you, and it's approved, here: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt20168564/

Submitted its sequel too, should be approved soon.

Hi ilovepancakesyo-

There was a confusion with the submission of the title which was why it was declined. The evidence attached was enough evidence for the approval of the title. Thanks to m b for adding the title for you.

Cheers!

@Bethanny It would be nice if you prevented rejection of this: https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/220509-014209-249000

(it's the submission for sequel which I said "should be approved soon", this rejection was so unexpected, I didn't think they wouldn't read the explanation which explains clearly it's not a duplicate and sequel to which title with links but not reading explanations is the job definition of imdb staff I guess)

I don't know how this 21 rejections will affect my account and future submissions but I want any and all damage to my account caused by this incorrect rejection repaired.

And this unable to verify - https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/220508-235016-584000

very frustrating - 15 links provided while adding the title verifies this cast, all of them, every 15 of them verifies this cast addition, every one of them, 15 links added verifies this and they are somehow "unable to verify" this?

I must say, being "unable to verify" this under these circumstances is an extraordinary achievement to make. 15 links were provided to them to make them "able to verify" all the info added on title creation. 15! All 15 of these links verify this "unable to be verified" info, all 15 of them.

Hi @mbmb -

I reviewed this submission (# 220508-235016-584000) and can see that it was declined as our editors were unable to verify the requested change.  Even if there was evidence provided with the new title request for the listing, our editors will only see the evidence that is provided within the submission request they are processing; so ideally, if there is evidence links to verify the request it is best to include it within the submission and/or provide an explanation for the removal.

I hope this helps clarify the process!

Hi @mbmb -

Concerning your new title submission for # 220509-014209-249000, I can see that this was incorrectly declined as a duplicate.  I have now resubmitted this new title on your behalf and it will get a second review by our editors.

@Michelle So when adding a new title, we also need to add all the links already provided as also an explanation to every single item on the new title submission?

If this was a seperate cast addition to an already existing title page I would do that like I do most of the time. But that item was a part of a new title addition submission and 15 links were provided for that new title submission. And every one of them has this info. From trailers to articles to other databases to Korean state websites. I thought new title additions are evaluated as a whole with all the items in it. Apparently that's not the case but still it's not acceptable to decline it, it means editor made zero effort "to verify" it. The title page has ~20 links ready for them to verify it. I will not re-submit it and risk another decline, it should be approved.

Thanks. It's currently stuck with "Approved (4)", it was same in previous submission, was stuck with "Approved (4)" then declined altogether. I feel same will happen. (It's approved now. Thanks!)

Hi @mbmb -

Thanks for your feedback.  Concerning the first submission, I can confirm that Kim Tae-ri's cast credit for "Oegye+in 1bu" has since been approved and is now listed.

For "Oegye+in 2bu", this title has been approved and I resubmitted the missing cast credit for Kim Tae-ri, it should be reviewed by our editors shortly.

Cheers!

@Michelle Thanks, your re-submission for "Oegye+in 2bu" is declined as duplicate btw (first submission is still pending) (It's approved now too, thanks)

You only said "Thanks for your feedback" but that was a real question. Do you suggest adding links to every single item when making a new title submission? I wasn't doing that because I was thinking they review new title submission as a whole but you say they can only see evidence in specific item, so does that mean we should also add all links to every single item when making a new title submission?

@Michelle I've also been trying to submit a title update for the movie, but it got declined (There weren't many sources at the time, which I understand). Resubmitted it after finding more sources, and now it's stuck on 'pending'.

The movie's English/international title has officially been called 'Alienoid,' not 'Alien: Part 1', not 'Alienoid: Part 1'. So, that should be the IMDB display title. All the other alternate titles that were submitted remain the same.

There's no new information the last time I checked about Part 2, so I will not worry about it for now.

Hi @ilovepancakesyo -

I reviewed the title page and can see that "Alienoid" is now listed as the Worldwide English display title, the other titles are listed with the 'alternative title' attributes.

Cheers!

Hi @mbmb -

Yes, I can see that the title, "Oegye+in 2bu", is now listed on the site.

Concerning your question about providing evidence, since new titles and filmography credits are different data types they are processed separate from one another, this is why evidence that is provided for a new title will not be visible to an editor reviewing filmography credit requests even if they are submitted within the same update form.  To better ensure that the credits are approved, it is best to include/attach the evidence in the credit explanation field as well when available.

I hope this helps clarify!
