Need Explanation of Certification Ratings (non-MPAA)

What does the Approved reading for pre-MPAA films actually mean? For example, "The Searchers" is rated Approved, but I have no idea what that translates to or means. Is there a comparison to the MPAA ratings? Why don't you have a link to the explanation of the certifications along with the listing of global certifications?

Prior to the current ratings system, films were "approved" for audiences or "not approved." The current rating system took the place of that old system that was based on the "Hays Code."
