My credits are attributed to the wrong (or fictitious) person.

My film & TV credits have, on several occasions, been credited to the wrong person. Most recently, this has occurred with my participation in the TV series "Unsupervised", wherein a NEW version of my name was created by IMDB to facilitate the credit.

I've been extremely careful in the process of adding & updating my credits, always making the proper selections and double-checking my input. Still, I continue to see my credits mistakenly attributed to other people with the same name (or additional versions of my name created). I can live without the 4 previous credit errors, but this "Unsupervised" credit is important to me.

Is there somebody who can fix this problem?

Tony Grillo
Listed on IMDB as Tony Grillo (II)
My listing: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2565598/?r...

Thank you

Adding credits can be a bit tricky and it is always worth checking submissions after they go live, as there is sometimes a bit of extra tweaking that needs to be done. So go into the relevant episodes and edit the credits - one trick to get the right person is to use the name ID in the box (in your case: "nm2565598"), it won't guarantee it'll go through correctly but it can help avoid problems on the submitter's end.

If, as seems the case with your main concern, the system has created a new entry for your credits (and not just attributed the credit to someone else) then just merge the names:
http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?na...

Then wait. A name merge should be pretty straightforward but if it is rejected come back here and post the full text of your submission and someone should be able to spot where any problem sneaked in.

OK - gave that a shot - thank you! Let's see if it all works out.

When the time comes to pull my other credits over from Tony Grillo (I) to my profile, Tony Grillo (II), is there another process I should use?

If the two Tony Grillos have only your credits (as a skim of II and III suggests), then the name merge should sort everything out without you having to anything more than submit the name merge request.

As with all credit changes like this, it is always worth doublechecking once it has all gone through to make sure all your credits are under the same entry (as there are currently 4 Tony Grillos), but it looks pretty straightforward.

I just got credited for a role. Only problem is that there's a person with the same name as me (Andreas Larsson) and the credit is linked to him. How can i set up a new profile and link that credit to me?

This one?:

Name split won't work so well:
http://pro.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?na...

If you go to the credit that isn't you, then you can change their name to "Andreas Larsson (II)" (without quotes) and that should force the creation of another page. It might be worth adding an explanation to say this is you so you know it is right.

Also keep an eye open for some helpful type merging the entries back, you can do a name split then.

Hey Emperor, maybe you can help me too. A credit I have has gone under someone under the same name....Sam Anderson (XIII). I am Sam Anderson (VIII). I thought I had requested the move but it hasn't happened yet and it's been a couple weeks.

Can you give us the ID of the submission? Staff can check on how it is going.

Sam

I just happened to stumble on to your post here in the middle of an unrelated discussion and noticed it hadn't been addressed (a good reason to start a new thread rather than post in the middle of some other discussion, where you might not be noticed). I noticed the credit still had not been moved.

I just moved it for you by just doing a simple correction to the entry on the title's page, to change the name to "Anderson, Sam (VIII)." Let us know if there are any problems, but please start a new thread rather than add here!

Emperor, can you also help me?
I have an IMDB account under my full given name, Sandra Gordon (I). But The Onion apparently added the credits for my web series under my nickname Sandy Gordon - which is now showing up on some other Sandy Gordon's page and not my Sandra Gordon page.

Can I add "Sandy Gordon" as an AKA and also move these credits over to my formal page and off of this stranger's page?

Thank you.

You can edit the title and change the name to "Sandra Gordon (I)":

www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?namesplit

What you need to do is make sure the credit reflects the name on the screen. If this is "Sandra Gordon" then you are fine, if it is "Sandy Gordon" then you need to check the box to ensure it says "as Sandy Gordon".

If that made any sense to me I'd have fixed it by now :)
I go to the incorrect listing and click "edit" it takes me to a page that give me the option of updating my information by clicking the alternate pulldown to "no change" on the right of the screen.

Basically I spent 30 minutes too long on this and it got me nowhere which is why I'm here chatting you now. Any chance some smart person like you can contact me to talk me through it? It's giving me a headache.

You didn't mention the series name, so I am assuming it is Sex House, now credited to Sandy Gordon.

If this is correct, you need to submit a Name Split request, starting at Sandy Gordon's Name page.

Click the Edit page button near the bottom of the page.

Select Add split from the dropdown menu beside Name Split (second option on the page).
Click Continue (at the bottom of the page)

Enter your name in the internal format, i.e. Gordon, Sandra (I) into the empty text box beside Producer Credits
If your name was listed on screen as Sandy Gordon (and I assume that is why you were added here), check the box beside Update existing credits with 'as' just under 'Producer Credits'.
Enter the reason for this Split in the Explanation box; something along the lines of :
I am Sandra Gordon (I) and I was the producer on 'Sex House'. I am therefore moving those credits to my Name page. It was added here in error because I was listed on screen under my nickname, Sandy Gordon
(Obviously only add the last sentence if you were credited that way.)

Click Check these updates

Form should now be green. Double check that your name is entered only beside Producer Credits and that you entered your IMDb name correctly.

Click Submit these updates.

These should be moved within a week, but could take longer. Also, note that the credits may disappear for a while during the move, so if they do, wait at least 48 hours before posting it as a problem.

Good luck

How do I remove myself from this website entirely as an actor /writer?

This is a different topic to the thread - can you start a new one?

However, to save you time: If the information is correct and the titles are eligible for inclusion, then you can't. However, if you want more input - start a new thread.

If you have been listed in any on-screen credits, you don't.

IMDb records film data, including specifically the credits, plus public information about the people who work in them. It is a database, not (primarily) a resume service, so it includes all information, not just what the persons involved wish.

I've had this problem too. And I have submitted requests to have it rectified but even after 2 years nothing has happened.
My IMDb account is MacDonald, Dan (V) and I have been credited for my Stunt work in "AKP: Job 27" but my acting credit  of Brothel Guard 3 was credited to a different account - now the listing is gone completely.
Also on "Pete Winning and The Pirates" I was given my producer credit for the first season. But during the second season my Stunt credit was given to MacDonald, Dan (I) and my Assistant Stunt Co-ordinator Credit has vanished.
Can these be rectified?

Hi Emporer,

I've recently discovered that my credit for a film has gone to an 'Emily Grimes' rather than 'Emily Kate Grimes' and now that credit links to the other Emily's page. I've added a new credit with the right name, was that the right thing to do? I'm just concerned that there will be two Emily's on there.

Thanks.
