My Account Name

I've had my account just over two weeks, but my page does not appear when someone tries to search it. Can anyone tell me why this is? And when I click 'My Profile' my name is all wrong with numbers and '-' included in it. I don't understand. Thank you in advance.

That's a User Account.  It's not part of the database of film/tv info.  It's for your use and allows you to log in and use features of the account.

An IMDb Name Page would list your credits and be what others are wanting to see by searching it in the search box.

My IMDb User Profile www.imdb.com/user/ur10114372/ (notice it has "user" in the url.
An IMDb Name Page www.imdb.com/name/nm0000354/ (notice it has "name" in the url.

If you want to create an IMDb Name Page, log in to your user account and join IMDb Pro and create one.  If you've been credited in film or tv, you can go to those titles' pages and add your name...that will also result in a page at no cost.

To change your user name (you can't use bluesmanSF as I already grabbed it), you can enter your "site settings" page and click Change your IMDb ID . Since it's a User ID and not meant to be a real name, you cannot use spaces (like in an email address) and some characters are not allowed...just a heads up.

Oh, I see. So in order to be credited in a film, I MUST have IMDb Pro?

No. Not at all (note, John Wayne, Liz Taylor, etc., do not have Pro...this is just what IMDb is/does...they document film/tv credits).

There are two ways to create a name page.  Join Pro and create one and upload pictures, resume, etc.

The second way is to have been credited on a film or tv shows credits and add it to the film or episode's page.  If you don't already have a page, one will be automatically created.

Pro let's you enhance your user account to be able to upload photos, attach a resume page, access industry related site content and message boards, etc.

Most people don't even do anything to get listed.  Eventually, someone will usually submit to add the credits from films or tv episodes, if they are being seen by the public and your page will result and begin to list your credits.  Small independent works might need your help submitting your own credits, but a regular, free account can be used to add credits to IMDb.

You were asking about creating a Name Page, so I mentioned that IMDb Pro can be used for that.  But, note that I also said the other way is to simply add a credit you've received to the database, and a page will get created.
