I appeared in the new movie Safe Haven and I need help getting listed in the cast listings.

Hello, I played a part as a Commercial Fisherman in the new movie Safe Haven. I see someone else is listed as such in the full cast credits on IMDB. I have now registered on that site and would like to know how I can be listed on the cast listings?
I can't seem to figure it out. Would someone be kind enough to help?
Thanks
Stephen Alvin

We might need a little more information - usually a screenshot of the credits should be enough to get you listed, but I see the other Commercial Fisherman is down as uncredited, which might suggest you are. It shouldn't be impossible to get listed (as long as you already have an IMDB credit) but you will need to assemble some evidence and follow these guidelines:

Emperor,
I really appreciate your kind reply. I am not credited like that other Commercial Fisherman Scott but I assure you I am in the movie, saw it for the first time today.
I am shown three times in the film. I do not have any other credits yet as I am brand new to film. What can we do? I have the pay stubs..
Thanks,
Stephen

It actually shows the other Commercial Fisherman as uncredited too:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1702439/f...

Anyway, pay stubs are a good start, call sheets and a screenshot of yourself in the film should help improve your chances, although, as they say on that link they give, there is no guarantee they'll include it or remove it at a whim later on.

However, you do need a credit on IMDB first - if you don't have that you'll want to ensure you get one of those accepted first.

Emperor, thanks so much. From what you said, looks like I am S out of luck as I don't have any other credits yet and I don't think I would be able to figure out how to get a screen shot. Pitty in that I am all over the movie and it would help to be listed as I could have used the recognition to get future gigs. I do greatly appreciate your kindness.
Cheers to good karma,
Stephen

You could use IMDb Pro and submit a head shot and resume. You could list that work on your resume. That could give you presence on IMDb until you begin to do credited work.

Sorry to hear that Stephen, however, I doubt the film will get locked any time soon, so once you get an onscreen credit you can submit your uncredited role in this film - a short film is often a good way in as they'll often throw everyone a credit for helping out and it wouldn't be a big draw on your time.

When you do get such a credit, feel free to bump this thread and we'll see what other help we can give.

Emperor, Thanks. Come to think of it, I did do a short film for a director at University Of North Carolina. I have a copy and I am credited. How can I translate this into being listed as a Commercial Fisherman on Safe Haven.
Thanks
Stephen

Here you go:
http://www.imdb.com/czone/

There is a link to the page you can start adding a title, but also read around the guides. With a student film, proving eligibility might be tricky, but have a Google and see what you can turn up.

Yeah that'll really help - it proves it exists. Add it as a video clip.

It is also handy that the director is on IMDB already with a decent set of credits:
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3887717/

Throw in these into Misc Links too:
http://uncw.edu/articles/2012/01/unc-...
http://www.whatsonwilmington.com/even...

And if you can find a source for this best movie win (where? when?) then throw that in - if you can't mention it in Misc Comments.

So yes, I reckon that gives you a decent chance of getting the submission accepted - I've submitted a number of short films and not had any problems which similarish levels of eligibility. No guarantees, but what you have is well worth a shot.

If that gets accepted (and it might take a while for everything to slot into place) then you can add the Safe Haven credit. It'll require a little patience (and crossing your fingers can't hurt) but it all stands a good chance of making it.

Emperor, Can we talk off this board?

Is there any need to? It is just handy to have most questions and answers public on here, as someone with a similar problem in the future might find it handy.

However, my IMDB profile link is in my profile here and anyone can PM me via that if they want.

Emperor,

I cannot figure it out. Being the old school computer lame being that I am, I went, I tried and just plain failed to figure it out after multiple attempts. Is there any possibility of you or someone helping me out and doing it for me? I would be happy to barter. I hope I am not over stepping any bounds. I just desperately want to get myself listed and its son frustrating that neither I or my friends can figure the damn thing out. I understand if you cant.

Cheers to good Karma

Stephen

Oh that's not a problem.

Obviously, we'd prefer people to sort things out themselves and I (and many others here) could talk your through the process step-by-step but at some point it just becomes easier to do submit it myself (I've done it before and will do it again I'm sure). I'll sort it out in the next day or so, as it is a short film it won't take long.

As you are uncredited in that role, you'll need to wait for your first credit on IMDB, so we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

OK It has started to go through, although it might take a week or so for everything to slot into place:

The film's entry should be here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2928274/

Your entry should be here (although it is currently returning a 404, which should go away in a day or so):
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5685964/

As I say, it'll be a bit before things are in a usable state and we can then look into what to do next.

And just a note for me really - most of the credits seem to have dropped into place and are linked back (so that only took an extra couple of days).

You are now live (although currently empty):
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5685964/

We can now work on getting you that Safe Haven credit when you're ready (I can't do it, but it shouldn't be difficult).

Alrighty.

First have a read of the uncredited roles guidelines:
http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?un...

What you'll need is evidence - call sheets are good and a screenshot of yourself in the film will help too. Scan them in or photograph them (with a digital camera obviously) and upload the graphics to somewhere handy and save the links off for the last stage. Photobucket is good for this as you can remove the pictures later on if you don't want them hanging around online, Tinypic is good for "fire and forget", quite and dirty uploading that doesn't need a registered account (I'd go with the former if you had anything even mildly confidential).

Edit the cast list and add 1 - yourself (you can use your constant, nm5685964, although the system should find you easily from the name), making clear in the attributes that the role is uncredited:
http://www.imdb.com/updates?edit=tt17...

Then grab the ID for your submission from here:
http://www.imdb.com/updates/history

Then head over to data verification:
http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/data_ver...

Your submission ID goes in the slot for Update Reference Number. The evidence goes in the URL slots and you can add some context in the subject and comment areas.

Hit submit and then sit back and start twiddling your thumbs.

That might sound a lot but it is about as detailed as I can make it, sorting it out shouldn't take as long as reading it, hopefully ;)
