executive in charge credit question

Question about which department the "executive in charge" goes in. This would include just that credit by itself, or followed by a company, such as "executive in charge: DIY" such as found at the end of many credit rolls. Also, I'm distinguishing this from the credit "executive in charge of production", which seems to be healthily at home in the Production Manager section. There are MANY other "executive in charge" of something-or-other, which I'm not including here.

I did a rough count on three departments, as follows:
Producers: 1649
Production Managers: 876
Miscellaneous: 2048

I expected a lot in the miscellaneous section, as this is a catch-all for everything, but somewhat surprised to see twice as many in the Producer section. I admit I've put those credits in both the Production Manager and Miscellaneous sections and am still not sure. This, of course, is assuming there is a possible difference between "executive in charge" and "executive in charge of production".

And then there is the "vice president in charge" type credit, which, without the "of production" modifier, I think belongs in Miscellaneous, but that's another kettle of fish.

Thanks, Ed. Except frequently it says ‘executive in charge’ only - are we to assume it means of the whole production? If so, I would put it in Production Mgrs. If not, maybe Other Crew. Or, ‘executive in charge of HGTV’. Since it’s not in charge of the production, specifically, but the company, I would tend to put it in Other Crew. Does this make sense? Any IMDb officials want to weigh in? Thanks.

The IMDb says "If a company or team worked on a film (for example a visual effects company) and received an onscreen credit for its contribution, then an individual who worked as part of that company or team may be listed in IMDb. If their name appears in the on-screen credits they should be listed with their credited job title and the company name if that's also listed (e.g. matchmover: SuperGroovy FX Co.)." I've taken this to mean if a name is associated with a company, such as the above HGTV credit, I list it as "executive in charge: HGTV" instead of what's written on the screen. I've seen both entered. Of course this doesn't answer my main question is whether it belongs in PRODUCTION MANAGERS or OTHER CREW departments. Or possibly some other department?

With the screenshot, the correct way to submit the credit would be: ”executive in charge: HGTV Network” (or maybe just HGTV). So colon (:) before the company is important to add (since HGTV cannot be part of the actual occupation).

Not sure what department. Perhaps Misc? IMDb should chime in.

Thanks for flagging this.

We aim to reflect the credits exactly as they appear on-screen under the correct department. Executive in charge credits usually go under production managers department. The credit in question should be listed as following:

Production Managers
executive in charge: HGTV Network

I hope this helps.

Thank you very much, Rida. That definitively answers questions I've had for a while - very helpful.
