In Progress

Duplicate episodes appear daily (Morning Wire)

Duplicate episodes of Morning Wire appear every day.

Here's what seems to be happening. A bot adds the episodes using the pipe ("|") symbols, while a regular contributor adds the episodes with the hyphens. (The titles with the pipe symbols are correct.)

If I'm right then a staffer may want to tell the regular contributor what is happening. He is probably unaware the episodes already exist when he adds them.

Hi @Nomissimon10 -

Can you check your files concerning this Podcast series? Looking at some online sources I can see that the correct Podcast episode titles have the pipeline, they are not listed with the hyphen.

@Michelle Most of the episodes are still getting two pages for each one. Every day I have to merge them.

@Michelle The correct is the |, this previously gave me errors, so I replaced it with -, I remove this replace for future items

@Nomissimon10 Terrific!

By the way, I asked the staff to allow the pipe ("|") symbol, since it was already on hundreds of titles. They agreed, and now you shouldn't have any trouble with it.

I also replace the following letters

[, ], {, }, <, >, «, », “, ”
Not sure if they still cause issues.

One thing that might cause you problems on this series: the episode numbers.

The episode numbers that appear in the podcast feed are wrong. Whoever is responsible for adding the numbers often duplicates previous numbers.

Your bot may have been prevented from adding certain episodes because the episode numbers were duplicates of ones already used.

The numbers in the podcast feed are almost arbitrary. For example, an episode from April 17th is numbered 771, but one from May 29th is numbered 700.

Many of the episodes don't have episode numbers at all.

Keep an eye out for that. If you are able to get the bot to ignore the episode numbers on this particular series, it may help you.

@jay_spirit I don't deal with episode numbers or seasons when it comes to podcasts. (I do not add episode and season) As there is no built in system for it in Spotify. And the text that is in the title is too unpredictable and spread around that it would not make sense to make a parser for the title. And it would also be too unpredictable. To compare with other episodes for the same title I use IMDb's built in system, this usually alerts if there is an episode with the same title name and thus avoids duplicates.

That's interesting. I wonder who is adding the episode numbers.
