Delete Credit

Hello,

I have seen many many issues being reported by professionals for their credits to be removed from respective products. I also have a similar issue - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4016922/

To this IMDB's stand is that they want to provide Factual information. But isn't the information factual only when it is verified both by the professional and production? By that respect shouldn't a professional like me have control over what data associated with me and shouldn't IMDB send a verification approval to both parties...only then does the info become factual.

Kindly revert with a resolution to remove such disputable credits.

Thanks

Anand,

it is unclear whether you are tackling this issue here in general, or you cannot get a specific credit of yours removed.
In the latter case, please share at least the 18 digit submission ID, and any other information that can help reviewing (title page link, screen captures, etc.)

Hello Vincent,

I am seeking help wrt a specific case, of mine. The link for the same has already been provided in the query here - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm4016922/

A resolution for me is also a resolution for generic puposes i.e only if IMDB considers my suggestion has weightage or has a logical reasoning , why not. Else a simple specific resolution for me.

Hope that clraifies.

Thanks,
Anand

Hi Anand,

Please make it clear and deal with one thing at a time, i.e. with your own issue/problem first. I see you have only one entry, so what is wrong with it?
And as requested, please share the 18 digit submission ID of your change request.

Generic purpose proposals should be entered as such and labelled as "Idea".

Sure Vincent. Lets do this one at a time.

So my personal issue, as the link provided, is an incorrect entry, I was neither was the second unit director nor an assistant on the project. I would like the same removed.

I am new to IMDB, could you point me in the right direction, as how to generate a Change request?

Thanks

Hi Anand,

if you are new to IMDb and you intend to make it a professional tool, I would advise to start by browsing the contribution help resources, and namely https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/how-do-i-correct-my-credits/GB89HGHNU...#

Hi, Anand:

In addition to Vincent's useful advice, please note that in this case you shouldn't request a credit removal:

If you're this Anandabrata Ghosh, then the credit is correct and must stay. If you're not this Anandabrata Ghosh, then the page you've provided refers to another person with the same name as you, and you should create a different name page to place your credits [Anandabrata Ghosh (II)].

I am indeed this Anandabrata Ghosh and I have been credited incorrectly by the production .  That was my second point, do I,  as a professional have no say in it.

Hi Anand,

so how do you explain that your name is credited?
Or could it be that there is another Anandabrata Ghosh duely credited on that movie?

Well, that is something you will have to check with the production.

Anand,

ljdoncel and myself are just contributors, who are here to help. We are not IMDb staff, and in any case, I do not think they can contact the tens of thousands of production or distribution companies around the world.

Since your name appears on that credit, it is quite likely that IMDb will reject your submission.

My best bet is to consider that you have a rightful homonym that was correctly credited in the production above, and when the times comes, you enter yourself in IMDb as Anandabrata Ghosh (II), according to IMDb rules.

Vincent,

I understand and appreciate good help and detest condescending assumptions. This is just a platform but the credits are professional of an individual, so one should watch what they say about another professional.

Now consider this:
1. There is no homonym
2.  Ofcourse production houses can't be contacted

Hence if a professional, with the only name, challenges a credit, in form a edit request, isn't it logical for IMDB to consider the same?

Anand,

IMDb is primarily a data registry. Professional aspects are secondary to it, a kind of plugin to make money out of the wealth of data being added every day.

Essentially, IMDb is a collaborative site, i.e. anyone can add and edit any data. So it is prone to mistakes, which can be corrected by the thousands of contributors, regardless of the professional impact of the data or its correctness.

So let us first see what the outcome of your submission will be, and review the situation then.
