Date format? Need better description.

Hello.
I just added a New title, and the help text says:
-----------------------------------------------------------

Miscellaneous Link
(...)
* Important: Have you correctly formatted the description?

website.com - description (date if known) (language if not English)

Examples:

Variety - article (12/02/09)
Facebook - fan site
-------------------------------------------------------

Is it possible to change the example date here and other places where date is mentioned to a date where the day is over 12?

Because for me not being an American it is not obvious from the example in which place the date and the month is. If the date were for example 20 it is obvious that that means the day since there are only 12 months ;)

Different Countries have different rules as to if the date or the month is first.

(If some have different placing of the year I don’t know but if so the year should be written in full 4 digits.)

Just a thought!

/Kristin

I agree. In fact, I think a different date format should be recommended, one that is clear to everyone.

Hi Kristin,

I have filed a ticket with our data editors to look into the form and take any action necessary.

Thanks
Meredith

Hi, Meredith. It might interest you to know that there is a discordance between the tips message integrated into miscellaneous "Links to Other Sites" section of the title profile editing form and that of the name profile editing form. The one for titles instructs contributors to apply a date format like the date "29 February 2016", whereas the one for names instructs contributors to apply a date format like presumably the date "02/29/16".

Hi Kristin,

We apologize for the delay in fixing this. This date has now been changed to a clearer format:

Thanks for your patience while we resolved this!

Best wishes,
