Correction declined - why??

A few days ago I submitted a correction to a plot outline of the Flipper (1964 TV series) season 2 episode "Gift Dolphin", whose current version has a major error in describing the plot. My action was done as deletion of the old version, because the system told me that was all I COULD do, combined with "adding back" a corrected version. Now I'm told that my change is declined because what I was adding in, as vaguely told to me, "Does not meet contribution guidelines", along with being given vague advice to "review our submission guidelines". How is what I submitted LESS qualified than what is already there, to say nothing of how the existing version contains WRONG information which I fixed?

I can't tell why you wouldn't be able to correct rather than delete it - unless you made the outline too long. Perhaps you can try again.

IMDb staff can also look into your edit, but may need the reference number of your contribution.

@Peter_pbn There's this error in some plot outline correction attempts:

I think it's because they have hidden "byline" information and since bylines are not supported anymore with outlines, a correction couldn't be made.

As you suggested, I tried it again. I was hoping to re-create the situation I encountered originally where the system said something like the outline "could not be directly changed", so I could list it here, but that did not happen this time. In my original submission, when I filled in what I was adding in to take the old outline's place, it told me that my intended replacement was too long, so I shortened the wording, and was thus able to submit the combination deletion/addition. This time around, without being told I "could not change" it, I tried simply correcting the false information, which did result in the warning about it being too long. I again shortened the wording exactly as in my earlier submission, and this has now been submitted as

#220615-173239-420000

If this still "Does not meet contribution guidelines", which is hard to believe as it is generally so similar to what it is replacing, I would appreciate being told exactly WHAT about it falls short of acceptability.

Hi @alan4447a -

I reviewed your most recent Plot Outline correction for the "Flipper" episode "Gift Dolphin", and can confirm that it has been approved and is now displaying live on the site.

Cheers!
