In Progress

Change to the cast guide

I don't remember this being in the cast guide but I just noticed it recently.

People who appear only in still photographs

These can be included in filmography based on these guidelines:

  • The content was created specifically for the title, and they do receive an on-screen credit: they should be credited as reflected on screen with the addition of a (credit only) attribute.

I'm not sure I understand this. This isn't a credit only. They are credited. They appear in specifically made photographs for the production. Why would this be a "credit only"? I've always thought this was where people were credited but did not actually appear at all in the episode.

It isn't new, but I don't understand it either.

Creating a 'still photo' attribute would make it a lot clearer.

@Peter_pbn

I don't remember this being in the cast guide the last time I looked at photographs as credits but that was probably 4 or 5 years ago.

It really doesn't make any sense that I can see. Logically, credit only should be if there is no evidence them in the episode. Why is voice okay but not photos?

I guess the underlying logic is that still photographs aren't considered acting, so as far as the cast list goes they are treated the same as if the actor hadn't actually appeared.

However, "credit only" is misleading as it suggests there was no work done at all.

Hi Adrian & Peter_pbn -

Likewise, I understand the attribute confusion.  I believe the current policy usage of the "credit only" attribute is meant to inform that the individual did not perform an active acting role on-screen, however, this attribute often communicates that an individual was credited on-screen but had no role on the production.

I have filed a ticket for the appropriate team to review this credit policy regarding attributes and still photograph credits.

Cheers!
