Certificates need update

I noticed a movie which in fact had a 16+ certificate in Turkey was recorded as 15+ in IMDb. I was gonna attempt to fix it but then realized you have outdated certificates for Turkey so possibly that's why original contributor couldn't enter the correct value instead chosen a closest value you have.

This makes the database inaccurate. Please update certificates for Turkey. They changed their certificates in 2019 or 2020. You still have outdated options.

You can find the updated info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_picture_content_rating_system#Turkey

I know you won't like Wikipedia as source, here are two official URLs from "Ministry of Culture and Tourism" to confirm info on Wikipedia is correct:

https://filmsiniflandirma.ktb.gov.tr/page/isaret-ve-ibareler

https://sinema.ktb.gov.tr/TR-144749/degerlendirme-ve-siniflandirma-isaretleri.html

Please fix this soon, I mean don't forward it to the "appropriate team" and then forget about it for 10 years. Thanks.

Hi Cert -

Thanks for your request to update the Turkish Certification selections on the site and within our Update form.

I have forwarded this request to the appropriate team, as soon as I have a status I will update you here.

Cheers!

@Michelle Your post says "as soon as I have a status I will update you here." but you didn't post any update in the end, instead you just silently changed its status  and I noticed it by coincidence. Not so nice.

Anyway I noticed there's a certification duplicated during the update. G and Genel İzleyici is the same certification, G = General = Genel

So, one of them should be deleted for consistency. I suggest just keep the G for simplicity.

Hi Cert -

My sincere apologies for the delayed reply.  Perhaps I misunderstood the issue, can you clarify the exact Turkey Certificate duplication error?

@Michelle I don't know how else I can word it tbh, I think my reply to your first post on this thread is pretty clear already, I can't think of a way to re-word it further.

Hi Cert -

Just to circle back on the original issue, there were outdated Turkish Certificate listings within the additions form on the site, the updated certificates were added and are now listed alongside the outdated certificates.

As I understand the current issue, you are requesting the removal of the outdated certificates?  If this is the case, we will still include the option to add certificates that were once active to reflect the original release details.  For example, if you look at the certificates for the US title "Gone with the Wind", the title was originally rated as "passed" during it's original release, so we have this certificate listing and option within the contribution form even though the "passed" rating is no longer an active rating, so that it can be added to older titles where the rating once applied.

If the issue you are reporting is that the Turkey Certificate rating "15+" never existed, please confirm and our staff can investigate further.

I hope this helps!

@Michelle Hi, no I understand keeping the outdated certificates, of course they should stay. I'm only saying during the update process, it looks like your staff has duplicated the "G" certificate. Now there are two "G" certificate options in the form. One is worded longer (Genel İzleyici), other is worded shorter (just G) but they are the same, they are not different, it's the same certificate as before. I'm suggesting just keeping the shorter one ("G" because it's simpler) and delete the longer one. That's all. Rest are good, nothing is wrong with "15+" etc..

I see now, thanks for clarifying.  I have reached out to the applicable tech team to address the duplication, as soon as I have a status on the removal I will update you here.
