Can't get title listed even though film has screened in 2 fests, won an award, and is online

I have submitted info 5 times for a short film to legitimize the entry of it and I keep getting nowhere in terms of getting it listed. The film has screened 3 times publicly, once during the film premiere, and twice in festivals. It took home an award in one of the festivals. It’s also on YouTube. What more do I have to do to get this film listed? Very frustrating! Any advice?

Sean: Please post your last full data submission here on this message board. You can copy it out of the receipt you would have received from IMDb by e-mail immediately after sending it in. Some of the regulars on the board may review it and, if they can, they may provide suggestions as to how to improve the submission to get it included in the database. (Also, please include the submission reference number -- it's an 18-digit number that will look something like 160123-123456-789000.)

Sean: I mean the content of what you submitted, with the film title, the release date, the cast listing, the crew listing, and everything else. As soon as you submit the data, you are supposed to get a receipt from IMDb in your e-mail account, and you can copy that and post it here in this thread.

That way, the contributors here (not just the IMDb staff) can see what exactly you submitted.

Here's the message I keep getting from IMDB, the info for the film is below. I've submitted the info at least 5 times now.

ReasonLack of supporting evidence

There was not enough evidence with your new title contribution for us to approve it and/or verify the attached cast and crew for publication.

To help us verify the existence of this title and the attached cast and crew, you will need to resubmit it with additional information.

Provide one of the following:

  1. In the "Miscellaneous Link" section of the new title submission form, add links to third party sites detailing the production.
  2. In the "Explanation for missing information" box at the top of the new title contribution form, add additional information detailing your case for your title to be listed on IMDb.

You can add this additional information by clicking the resubmit button and returning to your previous contribution.

Please review our title FAQ for more information.

    • Text: Zaloush Belikoff is a simple man of his times. A large bear of a man he makes his presence known in his small town. Everyone knows "Disco Zal" as he became known by his fellow town folk In 1978 after organizing the first (and only) Disco Dance held at the local Recreation Center. A building usually reserved for local elections and an occasional wedding reception. Very few weddings took place in the town that Zaloush called home. Home was actually a small generic apartment that looked out onto other dull, grey buildings through a common courtyard. While the apartment is small, it is a place of great pride to Zaloush who shares it with his wife Bruscia, Sister In-Law Nevus and rebellious, unmarried daughter Glorisa who at age 36, has watched her dreams pass her by. For a lifetime of hard work, Zaloush has amassed only a few possessions that truly bring him pride. One was his war medals for serving his country, a nother was a plain wooden balalaika, a three stringed musical instrument that was a gift from his father. It was his father who taught the young Zaloush to play the balalaika and the songs of his people. The other possession on display in Zal's apartment is a vinyl album and cover, a 33 RPM with a grainy picture of a younger Zaloush holding his father's balalaika and a glittery disco ball poorly photo shopped onto the black cardboard cover. A simple title reads "Disco Zal". A hastily recorded collection of disco inspired cover songs played for your enjoyment on the balalaika by Zaloush. Disco Music is very important to Zaloush ever since he heard Gloria Gaynor singing "I Will Survive" coming out of a crude speaker of an 8 Track player belonging to a tourist from America. Today is another day of honor, the local TV crew for the state television has requested an on camera interview with "Disco Zal" about his efforts to hold a second Disc o Dance is his beloved town later that evening. He wants the whole town to "Come, Dance and Enjoy". Zaloush Belikoff is enthusiastically preparing his apartment, his possessions and most of all his beautiful wife and daughter for the TV interview.

Sean: I have a few suggestions. Most of them have to do with fixing the links you are submitting.

Release Date: No attribute has been given with the release date of 4 April 2015. A release date should normally have an attribute, except to indicate a nationwide release. Furthermore, each film festival where the film was shown should be indicated with an additional release date. Example:

Country: USA
Date: 1 April 2016
Attribute: (Media Film Festival)

Miscellaneous Link: The film's Facebook page should be submitted as an Official Site, not a Miscellaneous Link. (By the way, it would be preferable if the Facebook page was visible to the public without having to log in to Facebook.) Your film festival links should be provided as Miscellaneous Links instead (see below).

Official Site: I could only find one sentence mentioning this film at http://www.cinema-alliance.com/. If there is a page devoted to Disco Zal somewhere on that website, please provide the direct link to that page as the official site. Otherwise, I would recommend omitting this link altogether.

Cast: While this shouldn't affect whether the title gets accepted to IMDb or not, it would be preferable to supply the character names for all the actors.

Other links: I recommend submitting the following in the Miscellaneous Links section:

URL: http://reeleastfilm.org/1/post/2015/08/reel-east-film-festival-schedule-august-21-23-20151.html
Description: Reel East Film Festival - schedule (August 22, 8 pm)

URL: https://mediafilmfestival.wordpress.com/2016-media-film-festival/#Schedule
Description: Media Film Festival - schedule

These links prove that your film was shown to the public and are more specific than just providing the home page of the festival itself.

Meanwhile, the following should be submitted in the Video Clips section:
URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VdG6A01020
Description: YouTube - Full movie (Flash)

I hope this helps. Good luck!

According to your Facebook the premiere took place on 17 July 2015 (not on 4 April [?]). If you want to list it in the release dates, it must have the attributes (Media, Pennsylvania) (premiere). A release date without attribute refers to a nation-wide theatrical release.
