Archive Footage Credits

Hullo,
I was wondering about archive footage work on an episode of a TV show called "Doomwatch". An episode called "You Killed Toby Wren" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0564483/) used as a pre-credits sequence archive footage from a previous episode. This previous episode was directed by Hugh David. "You Killed Toby Wren", however, was directed by Terence Dudley. I was wondering whether Mr David should be credited on this episode and if so, how, as IMDb doesn't allow me to add an 'Archive Footage' tag next to the director's name.

Best wishes,
Mateja

The "(archive footage)" attribute is only for castmembers, if I understand correctly. The attribute already assigned to Hugh David is fine: "(one sequence: pre-titles reprise from previous episode)", which is more specific/indicative than "(credit only)" or "(uncredited)".

Why stop at directors for the archive-type credit for pre-title recaps? Why not put in a similar credit for all the crew members for the previous episode? I’m not a fan of allowing pre-title recap credits, as you can tell.

Hi Mateja,

Did Hugh David receive an on-screen credit for the work, and was any of the footage new footage used only in the second episode?

As stated in our guides, if footage is used from an existing title it is ineligible for a credit as the original director played no role in the artistic creation of this title. Therefore, unless Hugh David received an on-screen credit, or contributed new footage then this credit is ineligible for listing. If Hugh David received an on-screen credit but only footage from a previous title was used, this should be added with (credit only) as an attribute.

Nope. No credit for Hugh David.

Where does it say that the ”archieve footage” attribute is only for cast members? Here’s my recent thread about one related case:

Hi Mateja,

Are you just referring to a "previously on" segment at the start of the episode? If so then that shouldn't be considered as a part of the episode and no credits should be added referring to this segment.

Will

Hullo,
Not quite. They repeated the whole five-minute ending sequence from the previous episode as an opening stinger.

Hi Mateja,

I think this should be treated in the same way as a "previously on" segment and any credits relating to this section should be ineligible on the episode.

I hope this helps.

Will
