Adding Detective/Sergeant/Captain/Lieutenant/A.D.A./D.A. etc to Police procedural characters

Hi I managed to add titles to Law & Order, but when I do the spin of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit some credits with Detective, etc get accepted the others say "Unable to verify".  I was only adding the titles to the main characters so if people are watching and there like "Oh what is his name he played a detective" they can look on IMDb and see the Detective title and find the person ok.  Im not going overboard and saying "NYPD 16 Precinct SVU Detective Elliot Stabler" just "Detective Eliot Stabler".  Just wonderingif someone can help me submit the changes.

It is inconsistent to accept some of those edits and not others. You could post the reference numbers of your edits here so they might be considered again.

Presumably these character names are not listed in screen credits. The guidelines do suggest that names are enough, but you have a point that the job titles may be helpful sometimes.

Hi Daniel, thanks for flagging. We do list credits based on the on-screen credit listings. If you're going off the end credits and are being rejected it can be really helpful to include a screengrab of the end credits to verify Detective is included onscreen. If these aren't onscreen credits, please keep in mind we go with what most of the credits are listed as. So, if you're trying to change all the credits to include Detective, please know this isn't a necessary change and may not be approved to avoid multiple types of credits for the same person on the same series.

This is, almost certainly, the wrong thing to do.  Per the cast guide: "Avoid extra  embellishments/repetitions/nicknames unless they are part of the credited character name: it's enough to list Robert Patrick as John Doggett in the "X-Files" TV series, instead of "Special Agent Jonathan Jay 'John' Doggett""

Titles probably aren't necessary (and for long running characters they can change) and names are enough.

Funny part is that a few days latter same production comp. where added on.

I always mention the source (in Comment) when I am adding a new info; the fact that their are "unable to verify", is noting more that laziness wrap in so call "God complex" of some moderators with the room temperature IQ.
