actors wrong order

By the way, someone is putting the actors wrong and sometime the Main actor is not in the main list. I don't know if someone is doing this on purpose or if they just have no clue of the movie.

John:
  1. What film are you seeing this problem for?
  2. Have you confirmed the order of the cast in the film's on-screen credits? The order on screen should be used for the IMDb cast order, even if that means that the star of the film is listed relatively low in the cast list. (So, for example, the cast of Fargo (1996) is listed on screen in order of appearance ... which means that Frances McDormand, who plays the lead role, is listed 20th.)

The Notebook is one of them.

Hi John,

There are several films listed on IMDb with the title The Notebook therefore it is always helpful to include the release year e.g. The Notebook (2004).

I am going to presume that it is indeed the 2004 movie The Notebook starring Ryan Gosling, James Garner, Sam Shepard et al that you are referring to.

The cast for The Notebook (2004) is not only shown as complete and in the correct order but has been verified as complete and in the correct order.

This means that more than one IMDb user has submitted a confirmation to the site that the credits as listed on IMDb are as shown on screen and are listed in the order shown on screen. If you believe that the credits as shown on IMDb are incorrect or are not in the order shown on screen you would need to provide proof that that was the case - such as posting a screenshot of the on-screen credits here in this thread.

The Notebook (2004) is a good example of what Gromit82 refers to above. The cast list places the actor Tim Ivey playing the character of a Rower at position number 1 while Ryan Gosling playing the character Noah is at position 11. If that is the order in which those credits appear on screen in the credits list then that is the order they must appear on IMDb irrespective of whether Ryan Gosling is playing the central character in the film and Tim Ivey playing a minor character and irrespective of which actor is more famous.

I hope that clarifies the situation.

Regards
Mark

Which it is indeed what's happening in this case...

Oh, now I understand, I thought it was the order it was listed on the DVD. It is strange the way they put the order in the credits. Thank you for helping me to understand.

Hi, John.

"...putting the actors wrong and sometime the Main actor is not in the main list..."
It seems to be "wrong", but actually it is resulting from the credits not numbered when added. Whenever you see the "wrong" order, it means such title (film) needs your attention as a contributor to place correct numbers for ordering the credits. These peculiarities were discussed earlier:

As a reminder, and unless mistaken, when no order data is entered, the cast is displayed and sorted by default using the starmeter information.
